Submitting the Smart Poultry Feeder patent application
Our team submitted a patent application for the Smart Poultry Feeder after its prototype development and project work. It is an application milestone, not a granted patent.
An automated feeder developed to explore a more controlled way of delivering poultry feed and reducing waste. The work moved from hand sketches to models, repeated prototypes and farm visits. Fitting the mechanism into a small space made the relationship between design, fabrication and assembly central to the project.

An early idea returned as a larger team project. We went through repeated adjustments because parts that made sense in a sketch did not always fit or move as intended when assembled. Taking the prototype to farms helped bring the design back to the people it was meant to serve.
I contributed to the system plan, coordinated the mechanical and electronic work, and helped bring the prototype together. I also participated in farm visits and practical evaluation with the team.

The Smart Poultry Feeder began with sketches, but its hardest questions appeared during assembly. Parts had to fit into a compact space and move together in the intended way. Repeated prototypes, measurements and adjustments brought the mechanism closer to something we could take to a farm.
